How The Tournament Works
Following the last ranking period of the regular season
the ACHA Regional Ranking Coordinators were involved in seeding the
top 16 teams selected for participation in the ACHA DIII National Tournament.
These teams represent the top ranked teams in each of the four ACHA
DIII regions.
Once the teams were seeded, they were placed in
predetermined pools for tournament play (shown above). From this tournament
seeding will come the individual game match-ups for the first round
of competition.
With the National Tournament being a single elimination
format the ultimate tournament champion will have to win 4 games in
4 days.
The first round of play is established by play within
pools. Winners in round one advance to a winner bracket. Losers advance
to a separate bracket and continue play. As a team continues winning
they remain in winner bracket. Losing teams drop to the loser bracket
and continue to play. All teams will play 4 games in 4 days.
Tickets for the national tournament are available
now.
