The Georgia Ice Dogs will play two games this weekend during their road trip north. Hoping to recover from a disheartening 6-2 loss on home ice, they will first face the Tennessee Ice Vols in a conference match up on Friday the 7th. On Saturday the 8th, they will take on the Louisville Ice Cards. The Dogs aim to freeze the Vols , who are coming off of an exciting win last weekend against Roanoke. Jeong Choe scored a hat trick in that game, earning him the SECHC player of the week award.
Last year the two teams split the series, with Tennessee taking the game in early October, 6-5. Georgia bounced back in early February, defeating the Ice Vols at home, 7-3. Overall, Georgia has a slight edge in the series with the Vols, with 17 wins, 14 losses, and 3 ties.
When Georgia heads to Louisville, they should have an advantage on the ice, but will also be facing a team looking for a win. So far the Cardinals are 0-4, dropping two to Ole Miss earlier this year, before losing to Dennison last week.
The last time the two teams met was in 2004, and the Dogs claimed a decisive victory. The final score was 13-1.
