March 17, 2014 – Athens, GA
The Classic Center ticket office has reported the grand opening UGA Hockey game at The Classic Center Arena has sold out. Total attendance at this first time event is expected to exceed 2,000. Fans rushed to purchase the remaining tickets for the April 9th Georgia vs Georgia Tech game following a Facebook post by The Classic Center on Monday that indicated just over 100 tickets were left.
“For close to 20 years we have had the belief ‘if you build it, they will come,’ and selling out the first game in Athens over three weeks in advance of the game certainly vindicates that belief,” long time head coach John Hoos commented on the news of the sell out. “The fan excitement and support thus far has been tremendous!”
There are rumors of an “IceDawg Walk” preceding the April 9 game that would allow non-ticket holders to meet and greet the team as they enter The Classic Center. An announcement of pre-game activities is pending.
Season tickets for the IceDogs 2014-15 season in The Classic Center Arena will be on sale soon, with reported plans to have them available by the grand opening game on April 9.
