•Weekend Preview: Clemson and Florida

The Ice Dogs are back in action this Thursday with a 7:00pm scheduled puck drop against the Clemson Tigers at The Classgafl-weekend-preview-12ic Center Arena.  This will be the first of two meetings between UGA and Clemson this season renewing the traditional rivalry on the ice. Tickets for Thursday’s game are on sale at the Classic Center box office, or online at classiccenter.com. Students tickets (with ID) are only $2.

Both teams are coming off losses in their last games.  Clemson had a tough 4-2 loss to Life University last Friday, while UGA looks to move past two losses to South Carolina two weekends ago.  UGA looks to get their scoring back on track after posting only 1-goal in their two games against the ‘cocks.  Dawgs will likely need some production from leading scorers Alex Carey (9 goals, 10 assists), David Bakin (9 goals, 7 assists), and Eric Mauge (10 goals, 5 assists) to get out of their scoring drought.   The Tigers are off to a good start this season, sporting a 4-2-1 record behind strong goaltending from Trevor Tironi and heavy scoring from forwards Austin McCall (5 goals, 8 assists) and Bryan Golnek (4 goals, 4 assists).

Following their matchup with Clemson, the Ice Dawgs head to Jacksonville on Friday to take on the Florida Gators at Jacksonville Skateworld at 8:00pm.  Florida defeated the Ice Dawgs 6-2 earlier this season in Athens, GA  Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee are currently in a 3-way tie for 3rd in the SEC Hockey East division.  Florida is coming off of a weekend split against the Tennessee Ice Vols.  The Gators are being lead in scoring by Ryan Geffin (6 goals, 2 assists) and Matt Jugen (4 goals, 4 assists).  A win against the Gators would put Ice Dawgs back in the driver’s seat.
