UGA Hockey forward Alex Carey has been selected to the ACHA Division III National Team. The ACHA National Select Team announced the roster for the 2014-15 team that ACHA DIII National Select Roster Announced that will travel to Europe in late December. “I am very honored to be selected to the ACHA Select Team, and proud to represent UGA Hockey as part of the team,” an excited Carey commented following the announcement that he was selected. Carey played for the Amarillo Bulls in the NAHL Junior A hockey league prior to coming to Georgia, and has recently been named a captain on the Ice Dawgs. “Alex has shown tremendous ability and dedication to the team, both on and off the ice, and personifies the leadership that is expected from our captains and players,” Georgia head coach John Hoos commented about first year player Carey. “He will make a great member of the Select team.”
The Select team will gather in Athens, GA from December 26-28 before leaving for Munich, Germany. An exhibition game for the Select team is scheduled at The Classic Center in Athens, GA on Saturday, December 27 at 6:00pm. Two years ago Georgia forward Peter Kacer was a member on the 2012 DIII Select Team. Coach Hoos as been selected as a member of the coaching staff again and will be joining Carey on the European tour in December.
