2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the Enmarket Savannah Hockey Classic, and the University of Georgia Ice Dawgs are celebrating the occasion with commemorative jerseys as well as special events throughout the weekend.
The special edition jersey, made by JOG Athletics, will recognize members of the USS Georgia (SSGN729) with their badge. The USS Georgia is an Ohio Class Ballistic Missile Submarine in the United States Navy based out of Kings Bay, Georgia. Members of the USS Georgia will spend time with the team during practice on Thursday evening before supporting the Ice Dawgs during games on Friday and Saturday.
In keeping with tournament tradition, the Ice Dawgs along with jersey sponsor BELFOR Property Restoration will be visiting with brave children and their families at Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah on Friday morning. From well-child visits to neurosurgery, the Hospital offers the most comprehensive children’s healthcare in the region.The Ice Dawgs will display the hospital’s name on the jersey sleeve to bring awareness to the vital services that they provide throughout the community.
Members of the University of Georgia Hockey team will be part of a meet and greet with the University of Georgia Alumni Association ahead of Saturday nights game. The pre-game event will take place at the Toasted Barrell and offers an opportunity for UGA alumni to receive discounted tickets to the game.
This year’s Enmarket Savannah Hockey Classic is taking place on January 18th and 19th. Both Georgia games will be at 8:30 P.M. against Florida and Georgia Tech, respectively.
Throughout the weekend, a silent auction will be held allowing fans to bid on these special edition jerseys. The auction will end during Saturday night’s game against Georgia Tech. Proceeds will go to help support the Ice Dawgs season and post-season play.
