Ice Dawgs Top Florida to Continue Hot Streak

The University of Georgia Hockey team partook in the rivalry weekend festivities in Jacksonville this weekend, winning a game of their own over Florida, 3-1. The Ice Dawgs have now won eight of their last nine games dating back to the beginning of October.

Georgia’s hot streak started with a win on the road over Tennessee before winning four straight games at home. Last weekend, the Ice Dawgs traveled to compete in the first ever Rocket City Collegiate Hockey Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama, where they won two of their three games. The Ice dawgs are now 7-3 in their Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference play.

In a game where offense was limited, Georgia jumped out to a 1-0 lead halfway through the first period when Seth Johnston found the net off an assist from Jack Ryan. It would be the lone goal for either team in the period.

The Ice Dawgs played the whole second period without a goal, but the Gators were able to even things up with 2:40 remaining in the second.

Jack Ryan gave the Ice Dawgs the go-ahead goal with 11:31 remaining in the third period to put Georgia ahead 2-1. The Gators struggled offensively for the rest of the game, and the Ice Dawgs took advantage of an empty net late with a long goal from Seth Johnston.

Georgia’s ACHA record is now 8-4-1 for the season. The Ice Dawgs have an off week this week, and will return to action on the road against Clemson on November 15.
