Nationals Bound

Nationals Bound!

On Wednesday, the final ACHA regular season standings were released. The top two teams in each of the four regions (North, South, Atlantic, and Pacific) received automatic bids to the national tournament in Columbus, Ohio. The Ice Dawgs were ranked #2 in the South region, and we will be heading to Nationals for the second year in a row!

The exact tournament dates are to be determined because multiple tournaments are grouped together at the host venue. Conservatively, however, Georgia will be playing at some point between March 10th and March 18th, which is during the university’s spring break.

The tournament is composed of 16 teams, with four teams each in four pools. Pool play is a round robin format, and the winner of each pool advances to the semi-finals. With eight spots full, the remaining bids will be determined by the regional tournaments. For each region, the teams ranked 3-10 will play a separate tournament, and both teams from the respective championship games will advance to nationals.

Georgia’s primary competition will be well-represented at regionals, and they will have the chance to join us in Columbus. Kennesaw State (#3), South Florida (#5), Florida (#6), and Georgia Tech (#8) will all be fighting for those coveted final slots.
